Exakta Varex IIa is introduced at the end of 1956.
On the first models, its designation is engraved on the front plate.
Starting 1958 and until 1960, it will be embossed. After 1961, a black
plate engraved EXAKTA will be sticked on the front of the camera, just
above the designation of Varex IIa.
This model is the first one from Ihagee offering 3 separated
synchro-flash plugs : X, M and F (for rapid flashbulbs).
Different lens can be adapted on its body. It is
presented here with
a lens Enna - Lithagon -
1:3.5
f=35 mm.
As with the Exakta VX, it is possible to
remove the viewfinders in order to used
ad-hoc focusing glass.
Other similarities with the VX, the Exakta Varex
IIa is equiped with a curtain
shutter operating within a range of
shutter speeds from 1/25 to 1/1000
of
seconde. This camera has also a special knob allowing
setting of the long exposures and self-timer.
