ZEISS IKON - Cocarette 519/2 (1926 - 1930) |
|
In 1926, the company Contessa-Nettel merges with Ernemann, Goerz to create the company Zeiss Ikon. The model Cocarette, which was already produced by Contessa-Nettel, now pursues its career under to mark Zeiss Ikon. This change of company's name is accompanied by a new design of the camera's body as well as the shutter's bed. The small mirror viewfinder is now associated with a large framing viewfinder. As on the Contessa-Nettel's version, the concept of film holder is preserved. The back does not open but (as on Leica's cameras) the film holding mechanism can slide out of the camera. Zeiss Ikon did a great job, offering this camera with 64 possible combinations of lens / shutter.
The camera of my collection is equipped with a Klio shutter and a Dominar anastigmat lens f=10,5 cm 1:4,5. This was one of the cheapest configurations proposed. The serial number of the lens (1234528) indicates this was one of the latest Cocarettes ever made.
