It's in 1912 that Johan Steenbergen, a young man coming
from the Netherlands, created in the German city of Dresde the company
named "Industrie und Handels
Gesellschaft".
In 1919, the name of the company changes to become IHAGEE (like
the company initials - I.H.G - pronounced in German).
The Ultrix type 1460 appears in the middle of the
20's. At it is often the case, this camera has been manufactured with
different combinations of lens and shutters.
The configuration of the camera of my collection is the
following :
|
IBSO shutter |
|
Speeds : B, T, 1s, 1/2s, 1/5s, 1/10s, 1/25s,
1/50s, 1/100s |

Iris aperture

12.5, 18, 25 |
According to its serial number, this camera is one of the
very firsts that have been made. |
IHAGEE
produced the Ultrix series until 1936 (in fact 1939 with a stereoscopic
model).

What is cool with old camera's collectors, is that
you always know which kind of gift will always make them really happy.
The golden age coming and my anniversaries succeeding one another (too
quicky from my point of view...), the gifts I'm receiving are very often
cameras which come from family's cupbards or attics.
I open to them the shelves of my collection as I
welcome a friend at home. They always find a place as if they were
expected.
Thanks to the "Admiral"
for this anniversary gift and this note
which summarizes perfectly the reason of a passion.
