Box Cameras

The Box Spring is a small camera produced just after the 2° world war by the company Tiranty, using a license from Coronet.

In fact, it is a variant of the famous Bobox made by Coronet; it is reusing the decorating circular plate of this last one.

Very simple, it is equiped with two reflex viewfinders, a meniscus lens and a guillotine shutter.

A tab located on the top of the camera selects the appropriate speed for snapshot : Pause or Instantaneous.

The body of the camera is made of paperwork covered with fake black leather. A handle is fixed on the top. The format used is 6 x 9 cm on 120 rollfilm.

Before the war, the company Tiranty imported a lot of foreign cameras, especially models from Leica, Peruzt and Coronet.

In order to bypass the protectionist measures implemented by the french government at this time, the company Tiranty decided to import parts of cameras from the english company Coronet. Assemblings of the cameras are made in France and subject to adaptations to produce cameras such as the Box Spring.
